Mission - To be a voice for the voiceless by advocating for animal welfare with the goal of finding permanent, caring homes for the animals under the care of UCHS. To provide a safe haven for the abused, neglected and unwanted animals of our community.
Vision - Decrease the number of strays and abandoned in Union County by encouraging spay and neuters and promoting animal adoptions in our area. Increase dependable and local fosters to help care for our animals. Provide medical care, socialization and a safe environment for our animals. Network with rescues in and outside Union County in an effort to place them in permanent loving homes
How We Help
Animal Rescue
We are a small, foster-based organization that strives to rescue and recover animals that are abandoned within our community based on our ability to place them with one of our generous foster homes.
Veterinary Services
We provide veterinary treatment to all animals we rescue. All of our fur-babies are completely vetted, as well as spayed or neutered prior to their adoption. This enables us to give them a clean bill of health upon welcoming them into your family.
Fostering and Adoption
All of the animals in our care are put directly into the homes of our fosters. Our fosters work toward ensuring all animals are healing physically, mentally, and emotionally. This allows us to really get to know our animals and see their personalities truly SHINE before being adopted!

Rip
Mixed Breed
Rip is an incredibly sweet and loving boy. He is very mild mannered. He loves to be loved. He is roughly 18 months old. He still has some puppy in him. He likes to play with his toys and foster. He is house trained. He is fully vetted. Heartworm negative.
Annie
Mixed Breed
Annie is a sweet and timid girl. She just needs to feel safe to warm up. She is house and crate trained. She is fully vetted and looking for a loving home!
Jody
Mixed Breed
Jody is the brother to Buffy. Jody is a young pup who is looking for his furever home. Jody is about 5 months old and he is fully vetted and crate trained. He is a super sweet boy and full of energy.
Chase
Mixed Breed
Chase is a fun loving heeler mix. He is very energetic and would love a big space to run around.
Buffy
Mixed Breed
Buffy is the sweetest girl! She is however still a puppy. She is very spunky and playful. She's fully vetted and ready to go home with you today!
Petey
Mixed Breed
Petey is a big boy, sweet, and prefers to be inside. Does well with other dogs, but not cats. He’s dramatic and howls when he wants something, especially when he wants to go for a walk or come inside. He doesn’t like storms and will howl if he’s outside and a storm comes. He likes to eat but isn’t food aggressive.
Draco
Mixed Breed
Draco is a sweet and very playful boy. He is fully vetted and house/crate trained. He is full of loving energy. He is ready to find his forever home.
Cookie
Mixed Breed
Cookie is looking for her forever home. She is a super sweet girl and just wants someone to love her. Cookie unfortunately led a tough beginning to her life and we believe she had been hit by a car before coming into our care. The vet says her broken leg didn't heal back quite right so she may always have a slight limp but she doesn't seem to mind.
Lola
Mixed Breed
Lola is a sweet and chill girl. Very loving and affectionate. She is fully vetted and looking for her perfect family!
Red
Hound Breed
Red was found on the side of the road malnourished and covered in fleas and ticks. He has finished up his heartworm treatment and is now waiting to be adopted!
Toad
Mixed Breed
Toad is an incredibly loving and high energy young pup. He’s very protective of his house and family.
Oreo
Mixed Breed
Oreo was abandoned by her owner on the side of the road. She lived there for months and had to be trapped. She had been shot in the head and lost one of her eyes. After all that she is nothing but a big ball of love.
Falcor
Mixed Breed
Falcor is full of life and loves to run and play with other dogs. He’s very loving and sweet.
Hound
Hound Mix Breed
Hound is a big loving boy. He loves everyone and never meets a stranger. He is very chill and loves to nap.
Courage
Labrador Mix Breed
Courage is the sweetest boy who has been through the ringer. He was rehomed and then lost. He was found malnourished and injured with his hip pulled out of the socket. He’s had surgery and is on the mend. Courage needs a family to love and care for him.
Burlington
Mixed Breed
Burlington is a sweet and playful boy. Good with children. He loves to chase squirrels, bees, birds, and whatever catches his eye. He loves to chew so he will need lots of bones and sticks to keep him happy.
Mack
Mixed Breed
Mack is a sweet and calm boy who loves to be petted. Loves going for walks. He has some eye sight loss in his right eye.
Beau
Mixed Breed
Beau is a super smart and loving young boy. Loves to be petted on and thinks he’s a lap dog.
Adoption Policy
Our adoption process begins with an application that helps lead us in understanding your family better. This enables us to make recommendations on which animal in our care may be the best fit for your and your lifestyle!
Local: Adoption applications are required and references are checked. If an application is approved a home visit is scheduled with a meet and greet. If the meet and greet goes well the animal is left at the home for a 30 day trial period. During the 30 days we check in regularly. After 30 days, we complete the adoption process with an adoption contract. Before the adoption contract is signed we make sure everyone is up to date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and heartworm negative.
Out of State: Adoption applications are required and references are checked. Once an application is approved, we will contact the applicant and discuss transportation options. Adopter is required to pay all transportation fees along with adoption fees. All fur babies will be completely vetted before leaving UCHS. This includes: spay/neuter(unless the fur babies are to young and arrangements have been made with adopter), updated vaccinations, neg heart worm test (unless other arrangements have been made with adopter).
